For My Niece

This is for my niece who at the age of fifteen has had to deal with way too much loss and grief. Within a year she's had best friends and a family member that have passed away.

This drawing represents some of the things that are going on in her life right now, firstly she is heartbroken over the losses and doesn't really know what to do with all the grief she is feeling.
The barbwire represents two things, the things in her life that have happenened that are causing all the pain she is going through and secondly her father who she has an extremely close bond with has barbwire tattooed on his upper arm.
The starburst is to represent her faith in God that keeps her strong through all this, she knows everything happens for a reason but that doesn't always help a whole lot when you are going through it.

She's my favorite (and only niece....) and I hope she likes the drawing and knows that I am always here for her.
